Things to do

As well as the obvious attractions of beaches and golf courses, the Costa del Sol has plenty more to offer. Here are some of our favourites:
Water park located in Fuengirola, about 15km from the apartment. It has a wave pool, some water chutes, and a particularly high slide called the kamikaze. There is a huge area for small children and there are other facilities including mini-golf, a climbing wall and bungee jumping. It is open 10 am to 7 pm during high season. See the website for other opening times. Admission is €14.50 for adults, €9.50 for children aged 4-12, and free for children under 4.

Theme park and funfair located in Benalmádena, around 30km from the apartment. You pay €4 to enter the complex. You can buy individual tickets for the various rides, or buy a SuperTivolino ticket, which costs €12 and gives you unlimited access to over 30 rides (although some of these have height and age restrictions). Other features include several bars and restaurants, cable car rides, and entertainment shows for children.

Open-plan zoo on a tropical forest theme where you can see crocodiles tigers, leopards, lemurs, meerkats, giant snails, river hogs, gibbons, and hornbills. During July and August the zoo is open until 1.00 am, at other times it closes at 8pm. There are themed restaurants and a large play area that includes a miniature farm. The zoo is located at Calle Camilo José Cela in Fuengirola, around 15 km from the apartment. Entry costs €9.50 for adults and €6 for children under 12. Entry is free for children under four.

Selwo safari park in Estepona, around 30km from the apartment, is an African-style safari park that houses over 2000 animals in semi-wild conditions. Selwo is easy to find and there is plenty of parking space right outside the front gate. There are lots of places to eat and drink and although you see some of the park by all-terrain vehicle, there is quite a lot of walking involved.

Huge indoor shopping mall with lots of high-profile shops such as Zara and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as cinemas, McDonald's, and a huge Al Campo supermarket. La Canada is located 4km from the apartment. Follow the N-340 coast road in the direction of Marbella and take Exit 182, signposted "Parque Comercial".

Funny Beach in Marbella is a 5-minute drive along the coast road in the direction of Marbella. There is a go-karting track here where children over the age of seven can drive around on small go-karts. In addition there is a trampoline area, electronic games, and you can go on quad safaris.

The Picasso Museum is located in the 16th century Palacio de Buenavista in the old part of Malaga. Its permanent collection includes 204 works donated by Picasso's family. Admission is free on the last Sunday of every month from 3pm to 8pm. At other times, admission for adults is €8 with free admission for children under 10 and reduced rates for older children and visitors over 65.
